Visitor Visa Details

Under Visitor Visa Options you can select the visa options that might suit your requirements. If you are applying from most Asian Countries(Nepal, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, you are eligible for tourist visa stream(onshore and offshore). However, if you are from Japan or China, you have an option to apply for frequent traveller for business or personal reasons.

Tourist Visa Stream

Apply In Australia

This visa category allows you to visit Australia as a tourist, to see family & friends, or for any other reason other than business or medical treatment.

Frequent Traveller Stream

China & Japan

This visa category is for nationals of the People’s Republic of China and Japan who often travel to Australia for business or pleasure.

Tourist Visa Stream

Apply Outside Australia

This visa category allows you to visit Australia as a tourist, on a cruise, or to visit family and friends. However, you are must not work in Australia.

Visa Benefits

  • Depending on your situation and the documentation you show, you may be given a stay of three, six, or twelve months.
  • During your stay, you can visit friends and relatives, cruise, or take a vacation.
  • Citizens of the People’s Republic of China and Japan are eligible for the frequent traveller programme.

Processing Time

  • 25% of applications: Less than 1 Day
  • 50% of applications: 6 Days
  • 75% of applications: 26 Days
  • 90% of applications: 37 Days

You Must

  • intend to come to Australia to visit only
  • have enough money for your stay in Australia
  • not work in Australia
  • be here as a tourist, for a cruise, or for purposes other than business or medical treatment

Some visa processing timeframes have been impacted by COVID-19, and applications may take longer to complete. The processing period for Visitors and Working Holiday Makers is determined differently depending on when you applied. If you applied before the border reopened, the processing time begins when you were eligible to travel. If you applied after the border reopened, the processing period begins with the day you applied.
